How do you defend yourself against straight punches?
The one thing you should always do is to keep your arms high and your hands in front of you. By keeping your hands in front of you with your palms facing your opponent, you can easily block the punches coming at you.
Make sure your hands are always facing the punches coming at you and follow your opponent’s movements. The key here is to be alert. By staying alert and being aware of your opponent’s movements, you can better defend yourself.
Another self-defense tactic is to move your arms in a position so that your attacker’s punches land on your forearms. Anything you can do to protect your face and sensitive areas should be your main goal.
Alternate between your elbows and your hands to block the punches coming in.
If you’re at a distance and your opponent starts throwing punches towards you, you can defend yourself by kicking him in the lower part of his body. This will have him backing on defense and focusing on his legs rather than your facial area.
Make sure to practice these self-defense techniques with your partner so you can further develop your skills and timing.
